Why Salamanders Grove Exists
Each formula must have a clear purpose. We make only what we would thoughtfully choose to keep in our own home. Our partnership began with a simple desire: to advocate for traditional herbal solutions after experiencing their profound results firsthand. Seeing those results motivates us every day to share natural, time-tested remedies with as many people as possible.
Discipline Meets Herbal Practice
Salamanders Grove was co-founded by a Licensed Acupuncturist and a U.S. Military Veteran. This unique background marries disciplined processes with a deep respect for traditional herbal practice. Building on traditions learned while living in the Far East for nearly a decade, we carefully craft our formulas with purpose and attention to tradition. The turning point for our business was when our veteran co-founder used our Joint and Muscle Rub on his own knees. After incorporating it into his own routine, he was sold, and we joined forces to handcraft these herbal blends for others.
Why the Salamander
Salamanders have long been associated with renewal, resilience, and transformation. In nature, some salamanders are known for their remarkable regenerative ability, including recovering from injuries in ways that have fascinated people for centuries. For Salamanders Grove, the salamander is a symbol: a reminder of the body’s desire to recover, the resilience found in nature, and the long tradition of looking to the natural world for healing and restoration.
Rooted in Herbal Tradition & South Carolina Soil
Herbal practice includes many systems of plant knowledge developed across generations and cultures. Pulling from over 2,000 years of herbal traditions from regions like East Russia, China, and Korea, we craft our products with rigorous, time-tested methods. Because the climate in South Carolina is remarkably similar to these traditional regions, our long-term vision is to grow as many of these herbs as possible locally.
Why Small Batch Matters
Our growing farm is located in Campobello, SC, at the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Small-batch production lets us stay close to the process. Herbs are prepared patiently, formulas remain focused, and each batch receives attention from start to finish. It’s a family effort, too—our kids occasionally pitch in, excitedly crafting their own balms from plants they find in the yard. Their excitement inspires us as we work toward our dream of one day having our own dedicated farm and greenhouse grow center.
How We Talk About Herbs
Because herbs are all around us, we see formulas guided by the trusted hand of nature and time. A perfect example is the American BeautyBerry bushes we’ve begun growing on our property. Long known for their use in beauty products, we were thrilled by a growing body of USDA studies highlighting a unique compound in the leaves that naturally repels mosquitoes, ticks, and fire ants.
